Melty Club?

The menu item we picked was called a turkey club melt. What was in it you ask? well there was carved turkey, bacon, melty cheese and some kinda dressing. We’re thinking it was 1k island.

On the side we had a pickle and fries. The bread was toasted but there was NO THIRD PIECE OF BREAD. However there was a toothpick. Though the toothpick wasn’t doing much. In a true club you need the toothpick to keep the sandwich together because this was a turkey melt “club” the cheese held it together.

So we ask you is this a club?

There, Now It’s A Club

The club sandwich discussion continues. Lets take a look at the ever so popular Big Mac. We all know that it has two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.

In that little jiggle they’ve seemed to leave out that it has three pieces of bread, which is a key feature in the club sandwich. Now we realize that there is no bacon on the Big Mac. What’s not stopping you to ask to through some bacon on there? Maybe the .50? Either way you can get some tasty bacon on it.

Ok so you got your Big Mac with bacon. Now bring it home. Grab your knife. Cut it into forths. BAM! Now it’s a club sandwich.

Are we right?

We seem to think so.

Discuss.

Lost List #2

Oh we found another lonely shopping list this week in a basket

Each time we find these list we like to imagine that the list was given to us and we are to go out and shop with no other information except for the list. This is where we let our imaginations wonder.

First things first lets break it down

  • Figs
  • Milk
  • Cake
  • #7-5-9
  • yogurt + ice – cream

Figs.  We enjoy figs, in fact we do have a delicious recipe for figs on the grill. Now there’s no specific number of poundage of figs so we’ll pick a pound of figs.

Milk. Then there’s some milk but how much milk? A gallon? A pint? Perhaps just a single serving. Have you seen the selection these days at the market? It’s a whole damn aisle. We don’t know the person very well, in fact we don’t know them at all so we now have to pick out some milk..If it were a flavored milk it probably would have been specified. With that in mind we going with the whole milk. As far as size, They’re getting a gallon and we are not going cheap. Grab that light blocking carton because that damn fridge light is always on…

Cake. Well, there’s just to many option now. In fact just thinking of what to grab hurt our heads. It could be crab cake, angel food cake, red velvet cake or even this little cake that mom use to pack into our lunches. The list could go on. I guess they getting a very small coffee cake from the checkout.

#7-5-9 Well this has to be lottery number to get. That’s the only thing that comes to mind. Hopefully the market sells lottery tickets that only have 3 numbers…

Yogurt + ice – cream. Or is it yogurt + ice = cream? If so they should have check their math. Maybe it means yogurt, ice and cream. They already had milk on the list. I would think if they wanted cream it would have been up at the top near milk. With that in mind we’re picking up a tub of plain yogurt and a some coffee ice cream.

Well, how do you think we did?

Would you have done anything differently here?

What could those number represented?

Mr. Pibb VS Dr. Pepper

Are you a pepper or a pibb? Just recently Mr. Pibb has made his way to the northeast area. We have never seen it before in these parts. After our first sampling we noticed a similarity to the good doctor.

It’s hard for us to decide seeing that Mr. Pibb is kind of new to us. So we ask you the people to be the judge tell us you who think is the winner!

The Candy Bar Line Up Part II

Welcome back to the candy bar line up! This time we take a look at plain ole chocolate bars. We have been wanting to find a Nestle bar for some time now, never would have though to check to dollar store.

Hershey has a strong rep here. The fact that is comes in my varieties helps it win. (kisses, minis etc) As far as Nestle, well the chocolate is a part of our favorite bars like Chunky and Baby Ruth.

When opening the bars I noticed that the Nestle bar seemed thinner but the large Nestle logo looks much better than the Hershey titled logo. The Nestle bar is one piece unlike the scored Hershey making the Nestle bar a bit of a mess to eat when breaking off a piece. This also tells me something.

Hershey = share   Nestle = MINE!

The Hershey is definitely the winner. Sadly the Nestle bar didn’t have the smoothness or sweetness that the Hershey is known for. The Hershey weighing in at 1.55oz and the Nestle at 1.45oz  it doesn’t seem like a big difference But the Nestle felt and appeared thiner. When biting in it cracked up and flaked.

So the winner this time is Hershey. Nestle we love the Chunky bar but by itself the chocolate is weak.

Not A Club?

Here we have a sandwich from Denny’s. The call it The Super Bird. It’s made up of thinly sliced turkey breast with melted Swiss cheese, crisp bacon and tomato on grilled sourdough. From what I have asked from friends a common answer of what makes a club sandwich true to it’s name is the bacon. Others claim it’s the sliced turkey. With that said, why isn’t this called a club sandwich?

Caramel Wars!

Welcome to a new series of blogs “The Candy Bar line Up”.

In theses future blogs I will be comparing like candy bars each week.

This week I decided to grab a Mars Milkway Simply Caramel bar and a Cadbury Caramello. Both bars offer chocolate and caramel. The Milkway Simply caramel is a new candy bar and we all know that the Caramello is the original.

The Milkway is a one piece bar, filled with stringy hard caramel. It was a very chewy bar. The chocolate was smooth and delicious. When you bite in the caramel will be stringy, not a fan of this as I have a beard. It’s a good thing that I carry a beard comb on me.

End result: Very Chewy.

The Caramello is indeed the original. This bar is made up of four bars that you separate. Making it easy to pop one in your mouth. When you pop it in your mouth, it just melts. i would imagine that if the Caramello was a one piece bar like the Milky Way you would have the same stringy result. The caramel is thin and less chewy than the Milkway. The Cadbury chocolate is very smooth and creamy.

End result: Very Smooth

In this first battle of the candy bars i give the win to the Caramello.

Breakfast To Go, Then Leave…

So while cleaning up the store the other day I found treasures! Well, It wasn’t the other day. This post should have been up back in October…but anyways. While going through the messy aisle  I found a 3/4 eatin donut. Now this wasn’t a cheap donut like the ones in the box. This was one from the bakery that’s right next door to me. So it was a quality donut. One that should be enjoyed and not left behind.

You may be thinking that it was most likely a child who left this delicious treat behind. Unless the child was well over 5 feet tall, I doubt it. Besides a child knows the value of a donut. The kicker was that the donut was still warm.  After I picked it up and mumbled down the aisle something else caught my eye, A warm coffee. It would appear that it was a lady that was leaving breakfast trails around the seasonal aisle.

Quick Poll For Everyone

It’s an old argument I have had with some friends. So I want to know what the people think.

I will post again at a later date with the results.

ABC Gum…Yum?

ABC GUM

Most kids collected baseball cards or comic books. Me, well I liked gum. There was some about the sweet smell of Bazooka Joe that drove me to keep chewing. Wishing I used a panoramic lens for this one. Now most of this gum was bubble gum. I recall trying to stick a piece of that fancy mint gum on the beam once as for a result..well see that gap at the bottom, yeah no good.  I’ll tell you what though, this collection is old. It’s been up there for at least over 20 years. I think that the next time I visit my dad I just might try to add to the collection, as long as he doesn’t catch me. I’m not even sure if he knows that this exists in his basement. I mean I would start a new collection at my place…but thats gross!
