Watermelon flavor? I think not

Ok we all have had our share of watermelon gum. Everyone likes watermelon gum. Here’s a thought. Does it really taste like watermelon? Our sources say not. When was the last time you enjoyed a fresh watermelon, probably last summer and what does it taste like? Like that gum? No mostly like water. Then again would people buy gum that tasted like water?

There are far to many questions in this post.

We want your input on this topic. Tell us your thoughts on the artificial water melon flavor.

We will pick a random comment on this blog post TO WIN A GRAB BAG OF WATERMELON GUM!

We are extending the comment contest to 2-28-11

The Candy Bar Line Up Part II

Welcome back to the candy bar line up! This time we take a look at plain ole chocolate bars. We have been wanting to find a Nestle bar for some time now, never would have though to check to dollar store.

Hershey has a strong rep here. The fact that is comes in my varieties helps it win. (kisses, minis etc) As far as Nestle, well the chocolate is a part of our favorite bars like Chunky and Baby Ruth.

When opening the bars I noticed that the Nestle bar seemed thinner but the large Nestle logo looks much better than the Hershey titled logo. The Nestle bar is one piece unlike the scored Hershey making the Nestle bar a bit of a mess to eat when breaking off a piece. This also tells me something.

Hershey = share   Nestle = MINE!

The Hershey is definitely the winner. Sadly the Nestle bar didn’t have the smoothness or sweetness that the Hershey is known for. The Hershey weighing in at 1.55oz and the Nestle at 1.45oz  it doesn’t seem like a big difference But the Nestle felt and appeared thiner. When biting in it cracked up and flaked.

So the winner this time is Hershey. Nestle we love the Chunky bar but by itself the chocolate is weak.

Caramel Wars!

Welcome to a new series of blogs “The Candy Bar line Up”.

In theses future blogs I will be comparing like candy bars each week.

This week I decided to grab a Mars Milkway Simply Caramel bar and a Cadbury Caramello. Both bars offer chocolate and caramel. The Milkway Simply caramel is a new candy bar and we all know that the Caramello is the original.

The Milkway is a one piece bar, filled with stringy hard caramel. It was a very chewy bar. The chocolate was smooth and delicious. When you bite in the caramel will be stringy, not a fan of this as I have a beard. It’s a good thing that I carry a beard comb on me.

End result: Very Chewy.

The Caramello is indeed the original. This bar is made up of four bars that you separate. Making it easy to pop one in your mouth. When you pop it in your mouth, it just melts. i would imagine that if the Caramello was a one piece bar like the Milky Way you would have the same stringy result. The caramel is thin and less chewy than the Milkway. The Cadbury chocolate is very smooth and creamy.

End result: Very Smooth

In this first battle of the candy bars i give the win to the Caramello.

Fangs For Easter!

I was out and about the other day and found myself at the drug store. Ah the drug store, always full of surprises. Easter is sneaking up on us, did you know that? While looking at all the delicious candy, I began to name them. Here’s how it went.

Bunny, bunny, rabbit, lamb, butterfly, killer bunny, bunny, chick….wait. Killer bunny? I slowly look around to see if I was in the Monty Python section at the novelty store. No. Indeed I was still in the drug store. I picked up said killer bunny and examined it. Well it wasn’t a killer bunny (sigh) It seemed to be a dinosaur. I guess all those other bunnies around it threw me off when I spied the fangs.

What does a dinosaur have to do with easter and spring time?
