Well the Dr is in with a new variety and a fancy label. The cooler welcomes Dr. Pepper TEN. That ten stands for the ten calories it has per 8oz but the bottle is 20oz. Come to think of it have you ever seen a 8oz bottle of soda? If you have it’s rare.

What even more interesting is that the label tells us that one serving is this 20oz bottle. If that the case why not just call it Dr. Pepper 20?

Either way it’s better that the regular 250 calories that the original good Dr has. It goes down with some extra bubbles than the regular but has the same over all taste. No bad after taste.

We approve it.

We always get a kick out of the generic brands. Most of the time the color scheme stays the same, thats what tricks you. The price difference is always a plus too.

Dr. Bob? Ok we know that its generic but did they have to pick such a common name. That doesn’t even sound like a trust worthy doctor(no offense to any doctors named Bob). Sound like a doctor you would hear about on a sitcom. Perhaps a name like Dr. Peter or maybe even Dr. Picker would have sounded better. Here’s a list of ever better generic Dr. Peppers. Dr. Pepper Rip-offs So perhaps they just ran out of clever names.

However the label is clever. We like the “open wide and say ahhh!”

Do you have a favorite generic soda?

Over at the store down the street in the downtown area we noticed something strange. Someone stole just the cap of this here beverage. After further investigation we found out that this theft was a common occurrence. Just about every week the employees find a drink with a missing cap. Usually it’s sitting in the coolers with all the other drinks but sometimes they find them around the store.

It always seems to be the either a Lipton tea or one of those Nantucket Nectars. We have enjoyed both of those drinks lately. There is nothing special under those caps. We could understand if the stolen caps where coming from a Snapple. We all know that under those caps lies an interesting message. So stealing those caps would make a little more sense.

Perhaps it’s a prank but usually when one pranks they like to be around and see the outcome. We’ve been told that every now and then an unsuspecting customer will grab an uncapped tea and spill it on themselves but no one is around to see it happen.

So what’s up with this?

We love our energy drinks, not just for the rush but for the taste. A quick look at the energy drink cooler we noticed a new color Monster can. They call it Rehab and here’s what they have to say about it.

“While chillin’ at the Vegas Rehab® pool party, contemplating a cure for cotton mouth, admiring the flesh parade, and pondering the wisdom of doubling down when the dealer shows a face card, it HIT ME! We need a new drink. One that can do it all—a triple threat that quenches thirst, hydrates like a sports drink, and brings you back after a hard day’s night. Monster Rehab: Re-Fresh, Re-hydrate, Re-store, or in other words, Re-habilitate with a killer mix of tea, lemonade, electrolytes, and our bad-ass Rehab® energy blend to fire you up. Rehab the Beast!”

One of the first things about this new flavor that made us want to sample it was the “non carbonated” feature. When you need a good thirst quencher non carbonation is key. Then we noticed that the flavor was tea and lemonade. Thats a familiar flavor, who can’t pass up an Arizona Arnold Palmer.

So we forked over the $2.50. Cracked open the can and took a swig. As the chilling quenching beverage flows down our throats we noticed that this energy drink was missing something. THE AFTER TASTE. Where is it? Well there isn’t one. Were we quenched? Were we energized? Yes and yes.

We tip our hats to you Monster. You have earned our seal of approval.

Well, I mean….It does fit. So that icon on the cup holder is wrong. Though we didn’t bomb around town with the wine glass in the holder. I imagine that the glass would stay there. The wine might splash around but beverage without a lid wouldn’t?

You have to think when you see these silly signs and icons that warn you that someone out there did said stupid action. This cup holder is from on of them fancy BMWs. It’s a fairly newer model. I have seen BMWs that may be a year or two older than this one and there was no icon like this on the cup holder.

What does that mean? I think that somewhere some person probably placed their glass of red wine in the cup holder then went for a spin around the mountains. More than likely some BMW dealer got an angry visit from a customer with a red stain on their seat demanding that the want it cleaned up for free and claim that the cup holder is defective. This may have happened a number of times. Perhaps so often that BMW decided to “fix” the problem.

What have we learned today?

If you disregard the sign and do as you please it’s your problem.

So while cleaning up the store the other day I found treasures! Well, It wasn’t the other day. This post should have been up back in October…but anyways. While going through the messy aisle I found a 3/4 eatin donut. Now this wasn’t a cheap donut like the ones in the box. This was one from the bakery that’s right next door to me. So it was a quality donut. One that should be enjoyed and not left behind.

You may be thinking that it was most likely a child who left this delicious treat behind. Unless the child was well over 5 feet tall, I doubt it. Besides a child knows the value of a donut. The kicker was that the donut was still warm. After I picked it up and mumbled down the aisle something else caught my eye, A warm coffee. It would appear that it was a lady that was leaving breakfast trails around the seasonal aisle.

Head over to 8 central(map link) street in downtown Ipswich. When you pull up the place will be dark and most likely vacant. My friend took me here late one night, we worked until 12 am and were feeling a little hungry. We had to knock on the door for about a minute or so, it felt longer due to the cold winter breeze on a late december night. As I look into the dark donut shop I could see the cook in the back look up. He walked to the door, unlocked it and let us in.

Sweet now we are in, so now what? Well all those bagels, donuts and muffins that we left over from the previous work day were all together on a rack in the kitchen. Free? well kinda. There’s a wooden bowl on the counter as walk into the kitchen for tips. We each through in a couple bucks. He told us to help ourselves to some baked goods. There is not coffee late at night here but the hot chocolate and chai machine is on.

We sat at the counter in the dark ate our snacks and watched the donut man make the donuts and drank our hot chocolate mixed with chai. When we left we told the guy so he could lock the door behind us. Everyone wins here, we get food the baker gets a couple bucks and his trash in now a little lighter.

This post is about drinking and driving so I decided to call it drinking and driving. I believe the quote from the driver was “I was blacked out wasted”. First off, he’s ok. As far as his Volkswagen…meh it’s seen better days. Word on the street is that the car clearly needs a new wheel and perhaps a transmission. He drove over 25 miles on this “wheel” before pulling over and replacing it with the spare. Keep in mind he was still drunk while changing the tire then hopped back in to drive further.

I wish I could have seen the facing of the people he pasted on the road. On second though I don’t think I would want to be anywhere near a car leaning on one side with sparks shooting out of the wheel well. There’s a lot of wheel missing here. I got a flat once, as soon as it happened the car kinda jumped and was pulling to on side. So that happened here and he kept going and going. I can just imagine the noises that this car was making.

Let break down the noises he didn’t hear:

The tire popping

Riding on the flat

The tire flapping and ripping off

The rim grinding away

The transmission trying to spin a flatted wheel and failing

People yelling at him as they passed by
